Being a smaller rider 5'8", I have been riding a larger crank arm 175mm. What are others riding?

I was reading as a general starting point one would start with a size larger than what they would normaly use on the road. Sorry at this time I have no practical experience in cross as my bike isn't quite done yet. I'm waiting on Britain. I will be using 175's and I'm 5'10". My normal road bike is 172.5. Ofcourse even crank arm length on a road bike can vary depending on a persons size and riding style. If your a spinner generaly you want a shorter crank power pedaler you'd want a longer crank.

I ride the same size on the road as I ride in cross. 175mm, I am a tad over 6' tall. I have been told crossers tend to use the same as on the road. I have also heard the other tale of slightly larger but I don't see any evidence of where there is a benefit not that there isn't some point to it somewhere out there. Hope this helps.
I posted the same question several months ago...Cima Coppi

The general response was to use the same crank length as on your road bike. For me, that is 180mm.

Good Luck,

6' 0", 175's on all my bikes. No real reason to change it.
