i have an old road bike that i want to make into my backup cross bike. I have it set up as a singlespeed right now but have an old 8 spd drivetrain that i am going to put on it. but it has no canti mounts so i was wondering if anyone has gotten them welded them on their bike and how much it costs (approximate) any resonse is a good response

Marinoni Bikes USA lists cati bosses at $20/pair on their repair prices chart. See:

I've never used them before (but keep the website bookmarked just in case!), but I know someone who did have top & down tubes replaced on a wrecked steel bike, and liked their work. Of course, that price listed is without paint -- which could be a whole lot or just a little, depending on how much self-discipline you can muster!

Cheers!
