Hoogstraten is a very twisty, sandy and rooty lap, not really my style. Also, I hate the forced dismounts (walking up dunes).
I started carefully behind the pack, and overtook a nice pile of riders in turn 2 or so.
Never found a good rythm, still not used to the skinny tires I guess. I´m not sure I would have been faster on my mtb, but at least I would have been able to get into a groove, moving towards my personal maximum performance. Now I got lapped after 35 min, not even a bit tired.

I dislike roots, especially in turn, for I´m much heavier than most riders, and I paid my carbon Zipps from my own money...
I was 35th from 46 starters. Seems good for my track record, but I really was not doing good in the race, lost time e-ve-ry-where apart from one funny sharp right-hander in top of a mini-hill.

I have still lots of time to find improvements, I even consider to do some more serious training, if I find the motivation for it.

Het climbo, who are you, and where are you from?

sounds like fun !! You made 35th in a top class race, that's awesome. Do you get to talk to the top guys or are they too much like superstars? I know out here in the US we get to chat with most of the top riders at the races.

Who? Where? I'm from Australia but I now live in New Jersey, USA after 2 years in San Francisco and 2 years in London. 31 years old, love to race, love to ride. Would like to one day make it to cross worlds (to watch!!), perhaps in 2003...

O well, 35th was kinda bad , the way I did it, very back of the field. Still have to learn to get my power on the soil on the narrow tires. In sportsclass races in mtb I am a top-10 rider, hope to be able to win one next summer. So nothing special. And too lazy to train.

I am still waiting for a magic spark to light up my faire, get me on my bike through any kind of Dutch weather. Theoretically I have the phisical ability to get close to the top, but that would take a lot of efford.

Also, I'm now looking into cross-country skiing, that would take some years to get the hang of as well, but I love snow and would love to try it once, never been on wintersport in my life.

I am a bit of a shy guy, don't feel like bothering the stars, but I do sheer them on when they lap me, or I greet them at the starting grid. Over the years I guess they'll start to recognize my 56cm frame and 28cm seatpost... :-)
