Bent front wheel while practicing...(4 posts)

Bent front wheel while practicing...Mikey

After the turkey today, I went out for a little spin. While practicing riding my cross bike around an open field, the front wheel got stuck in a little ditch and through me off the bike, the front wheel got bent by about 30 degrees from midline. I am wondering if the wheel is toast or is it fixable? Any of you have the same experience? It was a 28spoke radial laced to a razor rim...? It basically looks like it is severely out of true at the botom part of the wheel.. Any input would greatly relieve my fears!Any suggestions on how to fix it? thanks
Mike
Thanks and Happy thanks giving!!!

Did you have turkey? Because your wheel had Mexican ala Taco. The rim is shot. Depending on how old the wheel is you could probably salvage the nipples and spokes if you had to.

I sounds like a poorly constructed wheel. Spend a little dough and have a pro build you a good wheel. You wont be sorry. If this had happened in a race not only would you be out a wheel but you'd be running the rest of the day to finish.
