Canti cable catcher? KB setup method(3 posts)

Canti cable catcher? KB setup methodhaimish

I've set up my Crosscheck with LX cantis using the Bontrager method, and it works great. My problem is paranoia of the brake cable breaking/coming loose and the straddle cable (which is set up pretty low) catching on the knobbies and causing an abrupt endo. KB hints at some ways of setting up a safety wire to catch the straddle, does anyone here have any tricks?

KB method, what is that exactly? A low straddle cable and what else? I have mine nice and low but the tension there is so tight I wouldn't think it would come loose and catch my tyre.

1) - wire to the bars/stem to catch it (not elegant, but effective)
2) Second wire between the canti's to limit the "spread" if you loose a brake cable. Problem is you have to keep it out the way when you brake and it goes slack, so you have to get it to follow the existing straddle by winding it round.

Failing that just ride smooth tyres at the front :~)
