Skinny mtb tires(2 posts)

I was planning on trying my hand at cross this year, using my mtb with a narrow set of knobbies. The narrowest that I have found so far are Continental Cross Country's which are 1.5. Other than those, I have found a few models in a 1.7 or 1.8 (IRC Notos, Panaracer, Specialized, etc.). Does anyone know of any other narrow, knobby mtb tires (~1.5), or can you recommend which narrow tires to choose/ avoid (including the 1.7-1.8 models)?

Thanks!

I use Conti Cross Country 1.5s on single-track courses with good success. For grass courses I use a pair of Kenda 1.5s. The Kendas work well on grass. They're more of a City Bike tire than a true MTB, having a continous center tread with low profile knobs on the rest of the tire. If you're interested in the Kendas, go to a bike shop and have them order them through the QBP catalog. Good luck.
