Suggestions for FAT CX tires?pauly

What is your favorite MTB-like cross tire? I'm looking for something in the 38-40mm range for singletrack adventures on my Surly Crosscheck. (BTW: anyone know the widest tire that will fit on Mavic MA-2 rims?) I think the WTB Nanoraptors are too big, but Ritchey and IRC seem to have some promising models.

I have a 700x41 IRC V-Claw on the front of my hybrid. I haven't got a lot of miles on it yet, but it feels and looks pretty good.

Mt Cross is a 38 with a pretty agreesive tread. I have them on Open Pro's- same width as MA2s, IIRC- on a CrossCheck and had have no problems with either rim width or tire clearance. Ritchey also makes a Max Cross that's a 40, but the tread wouldn't be appropriate for singletrack.
