What size Kona Major Jake?(1 post)

What size Kona Major Jake?MB-7

I'm trying to decide between 2 sizes (49cm and 52cm) of the Kona Major Jake. My LBS has neither in stock, but can get either one or the other, but unfortunately, not both.

I'm an Expert level MTB racer on a disc-specific singlespeed (size = 14.5" center-center (~16.5 c-t), top tube = 21.75"). I train on the road with a road bike (size = 50.5cm center-center (~52cm c-t), top tube = 54.1cm, standover = 30.5") and am looking to race 'cross this fall/winter to maintain my fitness before the XC ski season starts.

I'm 5'6" and my inseam is 30.5" (measured barefoot while holding a book with a 1 1/2" binding so the binding is pressed hard against my crotch—like a saddle, and the bottom of the book is against the wall).

The 49cm Kona has the following specs:
- seat tube (c-t) = 49cm
- top tube = 52cm
- standover = 29.8"

The 52cm Kona has the following specs:
- seat tube (c-t) = 52cm
- top tube = 53cm
- standover = 30.9"

The 52cm seems to match my road bike a little better than the 49cm in terms of top tube length (albeit 1cm shorter) and standover, but will that standover be enough (recall my inseam was measured barefoot)? The 49cm gives me an additional 1" clearance, but also looses 1cm in TT length (or 2cm from my road bike).

What do you think?
