|if not planning to race x would you get a cross bike in the same size as your road bike? why are x bikes normally sized smaller? seems like a longer top tube plus shorter stem would lighten up the front end leading to better cornering and less arm fatigue but at the expense of barrier portage.|

|Larger tire sizes on cross bikes lead to reduced standover clearance.
(higher top tube) So the frame needs to be sized a little smaller.
