I've never rode the XP although I've done 100 mile plus rides on the SLR and found it to be very comfortable to me.

I ride the SLR on my road bike, and the XP on my mountain bike. I can't tell the difference. I ride 2-3 hours tops on the mountain bike 4-5 times a month. I do 2-3 hours on the road 4-5 times a week. The saddles feel exactly the same. I do lots of centuries too and the SLR is very comfy for me. It takes a few rides to break it in, but once you do, you forget it is there. I even did a double century last year and had no saddle issues with the SLR. I love it when people see it and remark about how it must be a ball crusher.
Had both and frankly thought the standard SLR was....Shylock

...more comfortable. The foam padding seemed denser in the standard SLR,despite being thinner than the XP. I had more pain from the XP and promptly sold it.

Of course, an Aliante carbon is Much more comfortable than either and weighs about the same as the XP if you remove the scuff guards
