hey everyone,
i've only been road biking for about a year and still don't have clipless pedals. i'd like to get some for the upcoming season, but would like to hear your recommendations. I have an inexpensive bike so i don't want to break the bank, but want to be comfortable as well. what do you suggest?

thanks,
-ct

Standard spd cleats = ok for beginners , but the reccessed cleat model shoe from Shimano is absolutely the worst piece of crap. Somewhat nice that I can walk around in them, but that is where the praise ends. Forget the model; about 2 years old. There the black ones with minimal green mesh and two straps.

You probably know this, but when I first started I couldn't wait so I got something quick. Glad I got something, because you are missing out not using cleats and shoes. Just don't make the mistake I did. Truth be told that anything is better than none, so possibly buy or borrow a pair of crappers at a bargain basement price just to have something until you decide on what to do. Even a cheap shoe you don't like will help you in deciding what kind of shoe last will fit you best. Also you will be able to tell what you like or dislike about a certain cleat system. In hind sight my purchase will help me make a better purchase in the future.
