front shifter?(7 posts)

front shifter?smolenice

OK, thinking about buying a road bike, already got a mountain bike (Kona kikapu). If i buy a bike with a double chainset then is the front derailleur shifter dedicated to 2 speed? If I then decide to switch to a triple chainset do I need to switch my front shifter (and brake lever, assuming they are integrated as well)

any help appreciated

Shimano 9 speed with the exception of DA or Campy shifters shift a double or triple. Ya want a triple, buy it that way, converting from a double is not cheap.
I thought Campy lefts were both double / triple compatible?bimini

I know my Chorus 9 speeds are and according to Branford all Campy lefts are double / triple. You will need a triple front deraileur on Campy and you need to make sure the total capacity of the rear deraileur can handle the triple and your rear sprocket.
thats exactly what I said.....nmRusty Coggs
