|A question about top pull derailleurs||mealex|

Was wondering if someone could help me.....I have a cyclocross frame which requires a top pull front derailleur, which I'm trying to match with my 53-42T Ultegra crankset. My first problem is, is that I can't find any top pull, shimano or compatible, road front derailleurs.......which leads to my second problem. There are a wealth of shimano top pull mountain derailleurs, such as the XT M751, but the specs seem to suggest that the maximum tooth capacity for that derailleur is 48.(there's a good chance i may be misinterpreting the specs).........I suppose i have 2 questions: 1/ Is there such an animal as a top pull shimano compatible road derailleur?....and 2/ Will an XT top pull derailleur work with my 53-42T crankset?
Thanks much, in advance, for any light you can shed into my naive world.

|Not sure about the capacity issue, but if you want to run a bottom pull FD on a top pull frame or visa versa you can purchase a little thing-a-ma-jig made by Problem Solvers that's basically a pulley with a clamp that attaches to your seat tube. It effectively changes the direction of pull 180 degrees. I have one that I purchased for the same issue, but ended up leaving the original cranks and FD on the frame and never used it so I can't attest to how well it works. QBP distributes them so your LBS should be able to round one up.
|Thanks Bryan....that fix should work.||mealex|
