Skewer recommendation(4 posts)

Skewer recommendationhrv

Just bought a front wheel (Velomax Tempest) , forgot it didn't come with a skewer (what seemed like a deal maybe wasn't!). Can anyone recommend a good skewer? Not really interested in hi-zoot stuff like Bold, but don't want the heaviest either. Excel seems to have a good selection, and the Dura Ace seems good. Does anyone know how much the Dura Ace weighs? The 70g. $10 one might work too!

Thanks,
hrv

Personally, I like the Mavic skewers for the definitive way they go to full closure. I've not had any problems with their retaining characteristics, even in horizontal Ti drop outs. Plus, they look efficient.

from Speedcific.com, 65 grams the pair, for only $14.

I would suggest trying the Zipp Ti skewers. Light yet strong. I got them for $39 at Tri-Specialties.
