I am looking at a KHS frame made from 853 over the web. It is a new old stock frame 2001 model. The owner says there is a small dent in the top tube. He says it is small enough the camera won't pick it up and won't affect performance or alignment. He told me it will still come with manufacterers warrenty on workmanship. How concernend should I be about this. I want to go to a steel frame from my alu TCR for the comfort. I'm starting to get a little older. Oh yeah I'm looking at well under $200 for the frame.
IMO, nothing to worry aboutOffTheBack

I don't think the top tube is very heavily stressed (engineers, correct me if I'm wrong), and 853 has a very long fatigue life. If it were a dent on the downtube of an ultralight aluminum frame, I'd be worried.

i have the same type of ding on my serotta...hard to see unless you're looking for it/the light hits it at a certain angle...nothing to worry about performance-wise. put a sticker on the ding and forget about it.
