Adjusting Cartridge Bearing type hubs(5 posts)

Adjusting Cartridge Bearing type hubstrout_bum

While cleaning/replacing the drivetrain on my track bike I noticed that the nuts/locknuts on both sides of my rear axle were really loose. The hubs are generic Bianchi hi flange track hubs with cartridge type bearings.
Anyone know of any online sites that tell you how to adjust these correctly i.e. preload bearings, play etc.? looked at parktool.com but they only show adjustment of traditional bearing hubs.
Thanks
Anybody? :()trout_bum

some cartridge bearing hubs have adjustable preload (reynolds wheels seem to) but i've had cartridge hubs for a handful of wheels and none (save for, i believe, my White Industries LTA front road hub) are adjustable. i have no idea about your particular hub - sorry.

If the nuts are loose, tighten them until there is no more play in the axle but still allows the hub to spin freely. That's about it.
