|Old Campy front derailleur/Centaur compatibility||Megalast|

|I have an old Campy Triomphe front derailleur on my back-up bike. I have updated this bike with Centaur 10 speed components, and the last piece I have to update is the front der.
My question is will the old der. work (for the time being, at least) with the Centaur 10 speed cranks and shifter.
I realize the front derailleur is not that expensive, and will probably update it in time. For the time being, though, I would like to try the Triomphe, if possible.
Thanks in advance.

|Since Campy's front shifter isn't indexed, the only time you might have a slight problem, is when you shift the front while standing.
On my Chorus bike, I use an old Super Record front changer, because I like the way it looks. You probably couldn't do that on a Shimano bike because of the front indexing.

|That's what I figured. Strangely enough, the Triomphe has a chrome and anodized grey finish, which, as you probably know, is a color scheme available on the Centaur group this year.
Kind of coming full circle, I guess!!

|Back in the late 80's, they had the Centrury gray finish as an option on several groups. They only had it around for a year or two, and so it is quite rare to see around today. So, the "Century" name for the new finish is nothing new, just not seen in a while.

|You need to know that the old Front Der. has a wider opening in the cage and it may not control the chain when making shifts. This may cause frequent dropping of the chain off the big ring, gouging the crank arms or dropping the chain onto the BB. What's it worth to you?|| |
