anyone use Ergo levers on cowhorns?(5 posts)

anyone use Ergo levers on cowhorns?DougSloan

I'm thinking of converting my steel Bianchi trainer bike to a quasi-time trial bike (with other wheels, of course). It has Ergo 10 speed levers, and I was wondering how these might work on cowhorns instead of bar end shifters and plain brake levers. Anyone? Thanks.

I experimented with Shimano STI levers on cowhorn type bars and they worked fine. Not sure how the ergo levers would work for the thumb lever though. My complaint about the STI levers on cowhors is that it was so damn ugly they had to go. Also consider that there may be an extreme cable bend that may make them not work so well. For the brakes and shimano levers that brake cable has an extreme bend that generally causes it to pull harder than normal. This is easy to deal with for brakes but it may not work as well with the shifters.
good point about cable routing; could be problem nmDougSloan
