|I'll be upgrading from my Ultegra triple to a Chorus double group over the holidays. With the 04 Chorus out, there are good deals on 03 Chorus. Is the 04 Chorus worth the price difference? Are their particular components that are better in 04 - shifters, deraillers? Thanks|

|For 2004 carbon has trickled down from the Record line and now adorns many of the 2004 Chorus components. I personally did not like the carbon look and went with 2003 Chorus line to keep with a more traditional look. If you like carbon and want to spend the extra money go for it. The Chorus components should last long enough that when you spread the cost difference over 3 or 4 years it won't matter too much.
Some details on the new stuff and links can be found here:

|I love the traditional look over the carbon and my '03 Chorus gruppo has worked just great.|

|Functionally you won't notice any difference between the 03 and 04 versions.
The difference between 03 Record and 03 Chorus is the use of Ti and Carbon pieces on Record to reduce weight, the Record crank has 4 arms instead of five, with one bolt on the big chainring attached to the back of the crankarm and the hubs have grease ports with a 28 hole option that's not avaialble in Chorus.
For 04, Chorus gets the 03 Record crankarm, carbon ergo levers and carbon on the rear derailleur. It's much closer to Record in looks and price.
As for which parts of 04 Chorus are better, it's pretty much a case of looks. If you like the carbon ergo levers, the 4-arm crank or the RD with carbon and willing to pay extra for the look, go for it. Otherwise, 03 Chorus is the best buy.

|04 Chorus is very slightly lighter than 03. I have 02 Chorus and it is flawless! I cannot tell any difference from my 03 Record on my other bike.|| |
