Used Velomax Orion's or DA/Open Pro'sheed
Dec 7, 2003 12:29 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking to buy new wheels for the wife and they are going to be used given our budget of $225-$250. I'm debating on a pair of 2 year old velomax Orion's or much lesser used DA/Open Pro's.

I like the weight factor (lack thereof really) of the Orion's, but am nervous about the hubs. Should I be worried? I'm assuming these would be fine/durable enough to ride as "normal" wheels for my wife?

The DA/OP's are obviously the bomber durable choice. They have db 14/15 spokes and 32 holes.

These will be used a couple times a week by someone 140 ibs. Not really serious miles either.

I have read all the past postings, just curious if anyone had any thoughts?

Thanks!

I would go for the newer set. Hard to beat DA hubs, period. And the OP rims are top of the line. Where's the downside?

BTW, for $300 you can get a new set these wheels. They better be near new for $250.

Good luck.
