Can I convert 34.9mm clamp to braze-on ??PeterRider

The Merlin customer service told me I need a 34.9mm clamp on the Extralight. Now, the bike is currently equipped with Record 9spd but I want to switch to shimano. Looking on the shimano website it seems that D/A triple or Ultegra triple front derailleurs don't exist in 34.9mm... Is there some adaptor clamp I can buy and use a braze-on derailleur with ? Any other solution ?

Thanks,

Pierre

Shimano does make a clamp that a B.O .the bull

will clip into.
The problem with a XTR derailleur is that it is designed for moving a chain on smaller chainrings. So the curve of the guides are more arched. It might work but not as well.

Excel Sports lists an "oversize seat tube adapter" right below the front derailleurs. You need a 1-3/8" adapter and a braze-on derailleur.

MTb derailleurs are all clamp-ons and readily available to fit a 1-3/8" seat tube, but they are not intended to work with the larger chainrings used on road bikes. I'm sure the shimano website lists the maximum recommended chainring size, which will probably be a 46 or 48 tooth.
OK, found it, thx for the info about XTR der.PeterRider
