Campy Scirocco vs. Vento(4 posts)

Campy Scirocco vs. VentoIndurain 03
Nov 30, 2003 10:57 PM
I am having trouble deciding between these two wheelsets. The Vento is about .4 lbs heavier than the Scirocco, but is less money. The aerodynamics of the two are virtually the same, and that is more important than weight. But, I am primarily a sprinter, so acceleration is quite important. If anyone has any experience with either of these wheels, or has any advice in general, I would greatly appreciate it.
Is it possible to move up to Proton?Spunout

Such good reviews for that wheel, with Neutron-near weights and sturdy enough.

Not had experience of these two but would strongly recommend the Zondas, or as other RBR says the Protons (more comfortable but not as "fast" as the Zondas.)

I have had mine a year plus, weigh too much (185 pounds), and ride some rough roads. These wheels have been bombproof, no adjustment required and great hubs.

But I'm new to the road and these are my first wheels, so I can't really tell you anything about how they perform other than the feel fine to me.

I can tell you that I'm 190lbs, I have ~2,600 miles on em, and they are as true as day 1 and spin like day 1.

Also, fyi, the rear hub freewheels rather loudly (which I happen to like), and mine have received several cosmetic complements.

Good luck w/ your decesion.
