Bontrager Race X Lites vs Rolf Vector ProsStuartHB
Nov 24, 2003 1:11 PM
I currently have Rolf Vector Pros on my Trek 5200. I have the opportunity to purchase the 2003 Race X Lites for a really good price. Would like to know all opinions if the exchange of wheelsets on my bike would be worth it. I ride on hills and flats so the terrain varies.

Thanks

Tough call. I think the weight difference is about 150 grams for the pair. The Bontragers have a higher spoke count on both wheels and a slightly less aero rim profile. So the time you save on the way up the hill will get lost on the way down and on the flats, leaving you about even, I would guess.

You might want to try to borrow a pair to see if you feel any difference.
Love my Bontragersafrican

Hit a 2 by 4 in the road on a group ride at 26mph (no one pointed it out) - never missed a beat. Washed my shorts that night though. Rode over another bike on a group ride when 4 riders went down in front of me - never missed a beat. Done 4000 miles on them this year. No races but each group ride here is a race.
