|I'm in/was in the same boat as you. I was buying a new bike that came with 04 KSYRIUM SSC Sl's. I've never been a fan of prebuilt wheels so I did a lot of research and am having Mike G. build me up a custome set as well. King hubs (28 hole) Sapim CX-Ray spokes and DT R1.1 rims, weight should come in right under 1500 grams.
I picked up the bike this past weekend and the Mavic's are definately eye candy. Look really sweet, but...
I already ordered the set from Mike so I am going to ride the KSYRIUM's until I get my new custom set, get a few rides in on them and unless that Mavic's are leaps and bounds over the custom set I'm selling the Mavic's.
Good Luck.....and Mike is a top knotch wheelbuilder, he knows his stuff. Buy with confidence!

|Why would you use bladed spokes on a 28 spoke wheel?|
|really only "semi" bladed||K-Man|

|The CX-Rays are really only a mini bladed spoke. Reason I am using them are they are exceptionally strong and light weight. The fact that they are bladed is only a plus for me. The blade probably doesn't add much if any performance gains. I have been using the CX-Rays on two 32 hole MTB rims for the same reasons. No Aero gains or really needed....just like the facts that that are probably the strongest spokes available foe their weight, which is lighter than many spokes available.

|Now that seems to make good sense.
let me ask you this, you said you are going to have Mike custom build these wheels using the Sapim spokes, CK hubs and the new DtSwiss RR 1.1 road rims. Looking at his website, he doesn't seem to offer the hubs or rims you mention, are you going to have to buy these yourself and then send the components to him for the build or is he able to get them upon your request? If you are acquiring the parts yourself initially, where are you buying the RR 1.1 rim from?
Also, you said you are going with 28 spokes up front, how many are you going with in the rear and how much do you weigh, will these wheels be relatively stiff or flexy?
