Cable housing replacement?outofthesaddle

I am replacing both my brake and shifter (Dura Ace) cables after about one year and 5,000 miles. Should I replace the housing as well?
derailleur housing at least...C-40

The shift cables generally get a lot more use than the brake cables. I would always replace the shifter housing and cables together to insure the best shifting. My brake cables will probably last through several sets of shift cables.

Same for cables. If you don't ride in the rain alot, the break housing can last twice as long.
What's that got to do with anything?Rusty Coggs

Mine get replaced if shifting gets hosed and derailer adjustment no longer cures it.
Thanks all - I think I'll just do the cables this time... (nm)outofthesaddle

Pull the end caps off the cables. If any of the little spirally wound cables are poking past the end of the plastic outer housing, replace it.

If not, then run them till the spring and then do it as a pre-season tune up.
