i need a new lid and am deciding between the ghisallo and the pneumo. i like the bell because its american-made but i like the giro because its a little more stylish. which one should i choose and why? (either way, the one i purchase will be white.)

...Pneumo about a year ago. The medium fits my head perfectly without having to use any pads. The best advice people have given here is to try them on for yourself. I've found that you can't rely on a manufacturer to have a certain fit either. For instance, the Giro 2001 E2 MTB helmet doesn't fit my head at all. It's too narrow on the sides and tend to craw up on my head. An ill fitting helmet is one that you won't wear. Be safe.

is the one I would buy.

I have a head that (compared to the norm) is longer than it is wide. The Ghisallo that fits my head front to back, doesn't touch my head on the side. Bells come closer for me thaqn the Ghisallo (they have a different shape. The best fitting for me (without mucho pad spacers) is the Limar.

Try them on & see what fits your head the best.

Len J is dead on! I went into a shop with my heart set on the Pneumo, but tried a Ghisallo on and found it fit better. Limar gives a bit tighter fit than either. Everyone is a bit different, so don't just buy for looks. A poor fit can mean a greater likelihood of injury in a crash. Trust me, I have crashed in a few different helmets!!

I tried both the Pneumo and the Ghisallo, I like them both but then I try a Lazer Blade and found that it fit better then the Giro and the Bell. The Blade has good head scratch access.
Which is bestlyleseven

They are both great helmets. Very similar in terms of venting. You really have to try them on. One or the other just may not work for you and that would decide which to buy.

Giro helmets seem to have a shallower fit (like Garneau) and don't fit my noggin well. The Bell fit is different, and better for me ... Limar, too.

It really does not matter how much you pay or what you decide to purchase, as long as the helmet fits, and has a DOT sticker it will do the job. In my case I tried on everything and settled for the bell Ghisallo. Then the other day I picked up another bike to leave at work for lunch hour rides. Not wanting to shelp the bell back and forth, I stopped in to Sports Mart and found a Giro adult helmet that fit really well for $11.95. It was an out of the box special price, but had a DOT sticker & was manufactured in 2002, so I bought it. It too fits fine go figure!
