I am considering the new D/A 2004 group. What tools are needed to install the bottom bracket and crankset?

Shimano will include the custom tools for the BB/crank install. All you need to do is provide your own hex wrench to secure the non-drive side crank arm (5mm I think). It's the same system as XTR03.
