Trek 2003 or 2004 - Help me decideWryBiker

My LBS has a 2003 Trek 2000 that they will sell for $1000 (it supposedly lists for $1300). I was really expecting to buy the 2004 Trek 1500, which the LBS will have in next month and will probably sell for list of $1100. The question is which is the best buy. If the 03 Trek 2000 series had carbon seat stays and better alum. like the 2100 it would be a no brainer, but the 2000 appears to have the same quality frame as the year 2004 model 1500. The components are not exaxctly the same but seem to be a toss up. Am I missing something? Aall suggestions appreciated.

I forgot in the previous post to ask another question. The shop also sells Felt bikes and seem to be pushing them. I've read a little about them but only seen the entry level F90 they have in stock(I know I don't want that model). The shop is getting a Felt shipment next week. From the literature, the F70 looks like the competition for the Trek 1500. Between those two, what do you like?

With respect to the 2 Trek bikes - given the same frame as you say, between these I'd choose the bike with higher quality componenets - even if a close thing you might as well ride 105 over say Sora.

Between the Treks and the Felt - ride them both - then YOU choose. Which one feels better - are you too stretched out on the Trek or vica vesa. Does one bike grab you over the other once you've riden both. I have already choosen a Trek frame and my opinion is irrelevant to your decision!
