I don't get it. How can they sell an older version for $720 and the newer for $600? Did they suddenly get cheaper to build? Seems that would effect value of the older ones. What gives?

I don't think the new ones are handmade. nm.undertrained

From my understanding....the old ones were hand laid and formed/baked in the traditional way and the new ones are injection molded like a piece of plastic. My guess is for next year after they find out that still no one is buying them (this time due to their looks). They'll cover up the process with a nice piece of decorative traditionally looking carbon sheet. BTW, they're only $475 from Europe:)

I doubt those prices are still around.

Probably because FSA is eating their lunch in the CF crankset market. Only a blooming idiot with more $$ than brains is gonna pay $600 or more for a Campy carbon crank when you can get an FSA one for about 1/2 the price at nearly identical weight.
because few were stupid enough to spend $720 on a crank? nmtarwheel

Campag claim that they use a 'more industrialised method' of construction on the new cranks. I would assume that this means less labour intensive due to the use of stronger mulidirectional carbon fibre with the marblized appearance rather than the normal weave look.

one thing is certain, the 03 models weren't made by campy anyway... outsourced to a well known usa company. as for the origin of the new ones, i have no idea, but if it's in-house production, that may be why they are cheaper this year.

I have seen you post at least 2 dozen posts over the past year... not a single one was at all helpful to anyone except your own ego. Why don't you stop trying to prove you are an ass and start trying to contribute on this board?
