|Anyone with Record 10 speed on a Master X Light?||banannapeeler|

|I just had my bike built at my LBS, and the chain rubs against the dropouts when in the smallest cog. Has anyone else here experienced this? The owner of the shop is going to put a small shim in the drive side of the wheel, and re-dish the wheel. Do any of you have any other suggestions? It's a Record hub.
Thanks in advance, David.

|I would try another wheel in there to see if the hub is a problem. We had a guy with his 10s chain about 1mm from the d/o (too close) and it turned out his wheel was funny. he had the wheel sent back to Lew (now defunct and bought by Reynolds) and replaced and doesnt have any problems.
Have you checked the alignment of the frame?

|My LBS guy has determined that it is because of the 13T cog(I have the 13-29 casette). I will use it with the shim until I decide on gearing. I may try to create a 11-29 casette, as I live in the mountains and would like to keep that low gear without going to a triple... Thanks for the reply!
P.S. the frame alignment is O.K.

|gotcha. You could use a compact crank if you want in lieu of a triple.|

|Do you mean shorter? (if you mean something else, please let me know...)If so,I wouldn't want to go any shorter than 175. My mountain bike (single speed) has 180s on it, and I don't want to mess up my spin... I think a 11-29 cassette would be cool though (maybe I'm a "Fred"...). I would like to have as wide of a selection as possible. The 10 speed ratios are so close together, I think I could change the upper part to go 11, 13, 15, 16 or 11, 12, 14, 16 or something and not be bothered by the gaps... maybe I don't need to mess with it, but I'm never satisfied I guess :)|

|He's talking about a 110BCD crank with smaller rings.|

|I see. (Duh)
That's a suggestion worth considering for sure...

|I have a 13 cog on a Rolf Siestrie hub and the clearance is close. There has been a bit of rub, also with the 13 and that could have been with a chorus hub.Is it possible to set the hi limit screw a bit tighter and still get the shift to the small cog?|

|I use a record triple/12-25/record hubs without any problems. The record triple-12/25 cassette works great for climbing, with minimal q-factor issues. Still I ride with purists who just can't stand the triple crankset on that beautiful Italian frame...|

|I wouldn't call myself a purist, but I couldn't bring myself to put a triple on it. It just wouldn't be as pretty to me. Silly... I'm sure plenty of people will make fun of me for having that big-ass 29 on there :^)|| |
