Look Pedal Cleats(4 posts)

Look Pedal Cleats260Lb_rider

I have Look PP357 pedals (with red cleats) which I have about 1000 miles on them this season. Recently a wicked squeak in the left cleat/pedal has developed during pedaling. I have tightened the cleat to the shoe, added lube to it, but have not gotten rid of the creaking sound. Are the cleats over due to be replaced? Yes, they are some what worn.

Any suggestions would be great.

1) clean the pedal and cleat very well
if that doesn't work
2) rub a small amount of wax on all the contact surfaces.
if that doesn't work
3) rub a small amount of grease on the contact surfaces.
if that doesn't work %$^&^^%#$%%
4) dip your foot into a bucket of grease
if that doesn't work #$(*&^&%$#@!@##$$$$&^&^%$#)(*
5) start praying to the Look Gods

I have real good luck using ArmorAll (a vinyl protectant sold in the Auto departments) every several rides.

Welcome to the club. I've tried all sorts of "solutions" for the squeak, but works best for me is to periodically sand the cleats where they contact the pedal. A grayish glaze develops on the red cleats at the contact points. Just take some sandpaper and sand off the glaze. Usually gets rid of the squeaks for at least several weeks until the glaze develops again.
