Ultegra brake /shifters problem need helpbeak

My brake lever on my rear brakes will not return to the closed position. It is open roughly a quater inch. Big enough to show the the screw that holds the plastic decorative cap on. It won't seem to spring back. Any ideas?

return to Shimano or dealer. Ultegra levers are POS.

Does your rear brake try to open farther but can't? It is the spring in the rear brake that makes your lever return. It could be that the lever is crapped out, but I would check that the rear brake is operating properly and adjusted correctly and that the cables are lubed and not kinked. It would be a shame to replace the levers and then find the problem was elsewhere.

I checked that this morning, and th ecable was frozen in th eadjuster barrell. I wd-40-ed it and let it soak. THat freed the cable and allowed m eto adjust the brake tension but the lever will stil lnot close completely. It still has an 1/8. I'll check the spring when I get home. Thanks

I found the brake calipers can get sticky if the pivots are full of crud. Other then cleaning and lubing the cables, clean and lube the caliper pivots as well.
