I'm piecing together campy components to build up a second frame. Since starting a couple of weeks ago, I've purchase (via EBAY) front derailleur and Veloce pedals ($35!).

Here's my questions...can I buy Athena brakes and Veloce shifters and Daytona rear derailleur and Mirage whatever and have it all work together?? I think the answer is yes, but I want to make sure before I bid.

FYI...this bike will be my second/rainy day/bad weather/when the primary ride is in the shop bike - so that's why I'm looking for components on the cheap. My primary frame (Aegis Victory) has Record.

Thanks Paul

Yes, as long as your veloce shifters and daytona rd are the same speed design i.e. 8 to 8 or 9 to 9 etc. no problem. I've run 8 speed chorus rear derailleur with athena 8 speed shifters on chorus 2001 9/10 speed hubs respaced with wheels mfg. shift 8 kit for 3 years now. Shweet!
I believe that your crank and BB have to match. (nm)TFerguson

You should have no problems mixing and matching shifters and derailleurs. However, Campy changed the rear derailleur design in 2000 so you may have issues, for example, if you use a pre-2000 shifter with a newer derailleur

See www.bradfordbike.com

There are some some compatibility issues and Bradford does the best job on the web explaining those. They also have a large stock of repair parts for Campy, so if you need to fix any of your ebay finds, they have the parts.

I have a Campy 8 speed setup that is a real mix of parts. Stay away from the Mirage shifter units. I broke two of the right hand shifting levers (made of cheap plastic).
