Specifically the beastly Kinesis aluminum aero fork? I saw one on a TT bike on ebay that I contemplated buying...

They're cheap, light and strong. Exactly what Tom Ritchey said could not be achieved (famous quote - "strong, light, cheap; choose 2").

I have one on a track bike. I've got numerous buddies who have and love Kinesis cross forks. Ditto on their rigid mountain forks. I have no experience with their road forks.

is that they are not the latest and greatest.

Before you bid too high, check out chucksbikes.com. He has some alu and carbon for very low prices.
