Please help me with my front mech.MichaelM

I can't seem to get my front mech 'just right.'

It's either set so that on the inner front C/R, I can use 1 to 4 on the rear, but if I change to 5, the chain is rubbing on the front mech, so I have to change to the front outer. When I start changing down, I can go down to 2 on the rear, still on the front outer.

Or I can adjust it so that it runs front c/r where I can change to 7/8, but when I'm using the outer front and start to change down using the big c/r, I get to 4/5, and it's rubbing on the front mech, and have to change to the smaller front C/R.

What would be considered as 'normal', and how can I achieve this. It's a 105 9 speed, double front.

And I'm on the verge of putting it into the lbs for some attention - which I'm loathe to do, as it would dent my ego !

Thanks.

Michael
