Creaky Seat Post(3 posts)

Creaky Seat PostBanky
Aug 18, 2003 8:58 AM
I have a Litespeed Vortex with a Thompson Setback Seat post. Lately it has had a ticking noise when I am peddling and seated. My LBS lubed the post but it still persists. I am going to lube all the other seat components but I am wondering if there is a different type of grease for use with Titanium. Has some one experienced a similar situation? and is this true about the type of grease?

I had the exact same problem a while back with the same seat post model...only I didn't find out as quickly that it was the post...went through servicing the BB, headset, etc. before I found the source of the noise. In my case it turned out that there were a few metal shavings between the post and seat tube. Check it out and do a good cleaning of both post and tube. You can use regular grease to assemble it.
