I've been looking for some components on Ebay to build up a second/rainy day bike. I found some cranks that I might be able to get cheaply but they're 172.5's and I currently ride 175mm'ss. On a second bike, will I really notice a difference??
most likely won't be able to tell difference...russw19

Unless this bike is set up exactly the same as your other bike, but with shorter arms, there are too many other factors that will make a difference that you won't notice 2.5mm on the crank arm. It's a short distance to change...

I don't notice much difference between my everyday ride, which is a Pinarello with 177.5 FSA cranks, and my occasional retro ride, which is a Merckx with 170 Super Record cranks. There are too many other factors that will change how the bike feels...

Someone said it well a couple days ago... the difference we are talking about here is less than the width of a nickel.

That's what I thought. Thanks.! (nm)PaulCL

it made a difference for me.
I have less knee pain now.
thanks to the smaller cirle you pedal .
there is less movement in my knee.
I have very sensative knees.
So it may not be that way for everyone.
