Rim depth on older Cosmics? the Bluish-ones.ekdave

Anyone know the rim depth om the older (1998-ish) Mavic Cosmics? Partcularly the clincher, 16 spoke model which has a bluish tint, sliver hubs, etc. My guess is that its a CXP-30 with a 30mm depth.

thanks.

The older Cosmic and Cosmic Pro wheels use a hidden-nipple, 38mm rim. I have a pair of each, from 1995 and 1996, respectively, and they're definitely not the CXP-30.
The Cosmic Elite, with exposed nipples and more spokes, is more than likely, as it has a shallower rim.
Along with Shamals, the hidden-nipple cosmics are some of the best aero clincher wheels, until you start looking at tubular carbon rims like the Zipps. Zipp, Hed, and others do make clincher versions of their aero rims, but for the money, I want things light, so I'd go tubular.
The Cosmics, on the other hand, make great all-around wheels for a lighter rider (I'm 150 lbs). I do take them off for climbing-intensive rides, but for solo flatter rides, they add at least a mile per hour to my average speed. And they look good, too...
great info, thanks!ekdave
