Warning!!!!! Carbon Lord cranks(5 posts)

Warning!!!!! Carbon Lord cranksrogue_CT1

I bought a set of cranks off ebay from Sabin West, aka Carbon Lord. Initially I had a problem with the cranks in that they were not milled properly and would not fit on the spindle of my Record BB. I was able to get them to work and have been riding them without a problem until recently. Now they squeak and click when I climb out of the saddle. I know it is the cranks because I installed my Record cranks and there is no noise what-so-ever.
Carbon Lord claims to have a "Lifetime" replacement warranty so I decided to contact him by e-mail. Over the past week and a half I have sent 7 messages to him without a response. I sent him an email under my wifes email address expressing interest in buying cranks. Of course, he responsed immediately to that message so I know he is not out of town or anything like that.

Does anyone have any experience with Carbon Lord? What do you recommend that I do to get my cranks replaced?

For anyone else out there considering Carbon Lord cranks I would recommend that you seriously reconsider. I think you would be better off paying a little extra money and get a set from a reputable company. In my opinion Carbon Lord's warranty is full of sh!t.

I am facing the fact that I was scammed and I'm out $200.
I would have never considered it anyways...Spunout

But if there is creaking coming from the cranks, try cleaning and degreasing the contact surfaces. After an initial installation to torque, get on the bike and bounce on the cranks horizontally in both directions. Re-torque the bolts.

Sometimes a rubber mallet (old school technique) helps to stick 'em on real tight!

and go to every bike board you can and post this message. Nothing puts con artists like this out of business sooner than word of mouth.

Post a review here. Go to the velonews board and post this. There must be other boards as well.

I've already cleaned the BB surface and the crank hole but it still doesn't help. As I said, the crank was not milled correctly which caused me to snap a Campy crank arm bolt.

As for the flaming... That is the main reason I'm posting. I know I've been f#ck@d but I am hoping to get the word out so that no one else gets screwed by this guy.

By the way, anyone want to buy a set of really nice carbon fiber cranks? I've got a deal for you!!
Unfortunately, I was out of town...CarbonLORD

...and I still am. I responded to this individual twice. Both messages stating I would warranty the crank and that I was out of town. Perhaps your wifes email works better then your own as I did have time to answer a few questions when email was accessable. Like I said to you in the second email I sent yesterday, I do not need 7 emails in 4 days and when you are prepaired to return the cranks for their warranty, I beleive you already have the address to issue them to. I trust I do not need to log on to any more web forums due to your email system not receiving my messages?
