I'm building up my frame myself..input pleasePaulCL

I'm picking up my repaired Ti Colnago frame today. I'm going to use it as a second bike. I'm going to try to build it up myself. Here's what components I have, and I think I need...what am I missing??

I have:
Campy BB (was once installed on the bike)
bar,stem,wheels,cassettes,seatpost,saddle,headset,fork
front der. hanger
chain

I need: (this is where I'm looking for input)
Crankset
pedals
ergo levers + cables
front & rear derailleur
brakeset

Am I missing anything?? I have Record on my primary bike, but can't afford Record for #2. I was planning to piece this together cobbled with components purchased from EBAY, this site, friends, etc... I will probably end up with a mix of Record/Chorus/Centaur etc... In the perfect world, I will find someone selling all the components I need in one package.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul

That's the only thing I know of that could cause you a problem. If it's a record or chorus bb, I don't think that it will work with Centaur/Daytona cranks as they use a differnt bb with a different length spindle. I'm making a rash assumption that everything is 10 speed - if so all 10 speed groupsets are compatible, so you can mix and match record, chorus and centaur drivetrain parts (except the crank/bb). Any pedals and brakeset will work, even Shimano (oh no!!).

Anyway, sounds like you list is complete to me. Happy shopping/building...

So I'll have to go with a Record or Chorus Crankset. OK...that's bucks. But everything else can be other sets?

Oh and no ShimaNO !!
You HAVE to get a Record crank -- get one from Performance --bill

they're not only on sale now for $175, they'll price match if you can find them cheaper.
Record cranks are hardly worth the money in function, but damn they are gorgeous.

Paul, go to www.comparisionpricing .com for the best price on new and then contact wisecyclebuys to match it and get it shipped free. Ebay is always as good source for used, you may just have to wait to get an auction with a price you can live with.

The Ti company that was fixing my frame couldn't fix it afterall. Each time they welded the frame, it cracked again. I didn't get all the technical stuff...but the welder said that it would have to have some sort of stress test. I am not willing to put those kind of bucks out for a six + year old frame - I'll buy a new one instead (someday). We both agreed that if I rode it and it cracked again, it could be a big doctor's bill. By the way, these guys are expert Ti welders. GE trusts them to weld their jet engine Ti parts.

Too bad. Now I have a Record BB, Campy Ti seatpost, record headset, seat collar, etc....lying around. Maybe instead of shopping for components on Ebay, I'll sell some.

Thanks for all of the input.
