Brake pads--alternative to kool stop or shimano?took
Jul 28, 2003 12:17 PM
I switched from shimano pads to kool-stop about a year ago and have been happy with the switch, until i got a new wheelset w/ velocity aerohead rims and now i've rund accross a problem: the kool-stops are too wide to fit within the braking surface on the rim. It goes over the braking surface by a mm or so. The shimano pads fit fine, but in my experience they tend to be rough on the rim.

Anyone tried anything else that works? Ritcheys?
Ritchey work well tooLC

KoolStop pads are the same width as Shimano pads for the Shimano brakes I'm familiar with. Are you sure you have the correct KoolStop pads?

i guess i mean height (measurement from top to bottom), not width (side to side). the width is fine, since they are made specifically for ultegra/DA. the height however, is greater than the braking surface provided on my rims, so there's some overlap onto the rest of the rim (bad news).
