Where to get Quill Stems(12 posts)

Where to get Quill StemstwowheelMarc
Jul 24, 2003 5:58 AM
I am looking to get a 90mm quill stem for my Lemond, I'm having trouble finding them - any suggestions? or does anyone have one they would like to sell?

The one I have is too long for me - just need to shorten it up a bit.

They're closing out on the old TTT. They only had 8cm left

Thanks, you know of any with the double mounting bolts so I don't have to retape my bars?

I bought it at Supergo but they're out of the smaller sizes.

The best prices I've found on stems is at www.aebike.com. They have a good selection of quill stems in wide range of sizes and rises. Some good models with removable facecaps include Salsa SUL, Profile H2O and 3T Motus. I have a 9 cm/90 degree H2O quill stem in like-new condition that I'll sell for $30 including shipping. Send me an email if you're interested -- jetmather@msn.com. I also have an 8 cm Nitto that I'd sell for $20, but it doesn't have a removable facecap.

What color is your H2O? aebike has them for $27 new , not sure what shipping is

I really like that TTT Mutant as well, just can't find it.

My H2O stem is flat black and like new condition. I paid $45 for it at my local bike shop, which is why I'm asking $30. The price at aebike is hard to beat, but would be about $5 more with shipping. I'm selling my stem because it's too short. I've replaced it with another H2O. It's not the prettiest stem around but very functional and allows more rise than almost any other brand. The Dimension stem is similar but doesn't allow as much rise (shorter quill).

I've been looking to do likewise. Pickings are slim at the biggies (Performance/Nashbar).

Here's the best quill inventories I've found so far for bolt-face:

www.Lickbike.com
Airbomb.com (keyword quill)
www.gearlink.com (in "Hot Deals")

Rivendell (www.rivbike.com) has them for sure. I think Terry Precision Bicycles (terrybikes.com??) does, too. I have two of the Rivendell Nittos, and they're fine.
