Quality steel forks vs. carbon forksChicago_Steve

I've been considering a new road bike to add to the stable and am partial to the high end steel frames. Manufacturers like Independent Fabrications, Steelman, Kelly and others make some sweet steel forks to go with their frames.

The steel forks come with a pretty good weight penalty. How do these steel forks do with smoothing out the vibration in comparison to a good carbon fork? Besides weight any other downsides to a steel fork?
None, except weight.............nmMR_GRUMPY

I agree. I also have a Gios with the chrome steel fork, and I can't imagine a carbon fork that would ride any smoother. The bike my Gios replaced was aluminum with a carbon fork and transmitted MUCH more road vibration than the Gios. I take the extra 1/2-pound of weight any day.
