|Ultegra triple front shifting problem
Jul 21, 2003 2:22 PM
|Ultegra brifters, crankset, front derailleur and chain. When I shift onto the big ring, the outside of the cage rubs on the chain. I can push the lever more and move it over to the high stop, but on the road it moves back into the chain in about 10-20 seconds. On the work stand, with no road bumps, it will stay in the stop position even while pedaling by hand. All I can think of is that the shifter just won't keep it there any more. Any other ideas?|

|1. Try adjusting your high gear limit screw outward about 1/8 to 1/4 turn. I think that maybe it's not allowing the shifter to find it's "click."
2. Check your cable housing. It doesn't have to have a very big flaw to screw up your shifting.

|Make sure the cable is adjusted right. Shift the chain from the big to the middle ring (do not engage the middle ring trim setting). When in the middle ring and the low gear cog, the chain should have 0 clearance between it and the inner cage of the derailler.|

|Cleaned with WD40 until it ran clean then dried and relubed with silicone spray. Working fine.
