Think about upgrading my 2003 LeMond Zurich to Dura Ace triple. I am not completely unhappy with the Ultegra group however, I did read one ride say the the Ultegra shifter is not designed for a tripe...and I have had problems with shift to the big cog. Can I use the Dura Ace upgrade kit to accomplish this? The kit includes shifter, crankset, front and rear deraileurs, and bottome bracket for $639. I would only need an additional shifter correct? I have read some rides say that the Dura Ace bottom bracket and cassette is not very...at least not better than the Ultegra components. Also, any thoughts on waiting for the 2004 Dura Ace group? By order the parts online this is still about a 800 upgrade....and my LBS would probably charge more for the parts...but I hate to pay list.

The ultegra shifter is designed to work with a triple or double, and will work corectly if setup right. Your shift problems are most likely derailer mis adjustment/alignment.Seems to be a very common problem that even many LBS cannot get right...www.parktool has the complete drill on how to do it.
I 2nd that, will work fine with proper setup.... nmInTheMiddle

.....however the Dura Ace triple shifts soooo much nicer. I bought and installed Dura Ace shifters and rear dérailleur on my otherwise Ultegra equipped bike, for less than $300.00 new. The shifting is very easy and positive. I'm getting ready to do the same thing on my wife's bike and on my second bike.
