I had the same question a fwe months back. I was racing a rear carbone (given to me by a friend) and decided to sell it and bought 404 tubulars. The weight difference is huge- I can use the 404's for all types of races and rides (although I don't ride them daily b/c they're tubular- not too mention a ton of dough!).

My friend swears by Carbones, says they are sweet when brought up to speed. I guess if I lived in a completely flat area, or was a stronger rider, I would have bought a front Carbone instead of 404's. The 404's felt really good the few times I've raced them so far, but heck, they didn't help me when I got dropped. I think the 404's corner better, my confidence improved signifcantly, but without a front Carbone, I couldn't swear they were much better.

Sorry I couldn't offer more, thought I just share my recent experience. I'm very happy with the wheels, glad I got them instead of the Carbones.

(Perfect world scenario- Carbones for flat rides/races, 303's for hilly ones, ROlf Vigors for training)
Like my Carbones, havn't tried Zipps (nm)Al1943
