Is the front derailer trimmable with the STI shifter or is it just indexed?

I'm not sure about triples.
Triples are also trimable -- nmalmccm

The good stuff is trimmable, the low end ones aren't.
Also depends on vintage.Chen2

My wife's 1998 Ultegra triple had the standard 4 position detents but not the trimming feature. Her 2003 Ultegra triple has both. My 1998 D-A double does not have trimming detents but does have slide trimming. I've never needed it.

What are you calling the "4 position detents" and the "trimming feature" or "slide trimming"? Please explain.

Thanks,
TF
Even my Tiagra STI was trimmable. (NT)flate
