what is the proper stem length?CrazyMan

What would be the consequences of changing to a 90mm stem on my new bike? Would this cause any noticeable change in handling, or should I just focus on getting the right length cockpit?
I've heard 100-120 is ideal...is this written in stone?
Thanks

There is no ideal, other than what you feel comfy with.

You can't look at SL alone - you have to look at tube angle, TT lengh etc to see that the effect of a given stem length is. In practical terms, anything inside the standard manufactured lenghts will be fine. That why we can use S, M, L, XL frames. You get into the stem length bracket with the frame size, then fine tune with the stem length (and saddle position, seat post etc), depending on the position you want/like.
