i'm looking to upgrade most of my drivetrain and shifters. please comment with any opinions on possible issues or incompatibilities.

1. crankset to 9spd chorus - i have an odd BB with campy taper for an older merlin
2. dura ace 9spd STI shifter/brake levers
3. dura ace derailluer
4. ultegra 9spd cassette - is dura ace worth it?
5. dura ace 9 spd chain, can i use a sram 9spd chain?

also can a 9spd cassette work go on an 8spd shimano wheelset?

thanks.
Yes-all that stuff will work. nmthe bull

It will work as long as the freehub body has threads for a lockring on the inside of the end. Also, if the splines on the freehub body go all the way to the end, you can only use a 12 tooth or larger small cog.

Sure the spindle length on that ODD BB is correct for the crank?

honestly, i don't know. i'm assuming it is as i've read from different bits that campy's 8 and 9 spd cranks have not changed over the years and the even the 10 spd is the same except for a large chainring difference. the reason i'm not sure is because the 96 merlin i bought happened to have a crankset that was stupid. it had a 7mm hex and required a left-threaded crank puller to remove. i finally found a 7mm and have a crank puller on special order. by this time next week i should have my cranks off! if you've got info on appropriate spindle lengths, pls let me know. did campy move towards something more lower profile through the years?
