My problem: The Shimano 600 downtube shifter I have won't mount to my Cannondale R800 (cad 2? cad3?) frame.
Cause: It looks like some sort of shaped washer/boss mount is missing. The boss on the frame has a square base and a round piece with two flat sides where one can secure the screw for the shifter or cable adjusters(if running cables to the handlebars). I was running STI shifters before, and the cable adjusters fit on the way they were supposed to. It looks like the 600 downtube shifter needs some sort of cross shaped seat in order be secured to the boss.

Am I missing a part? Or will this shifter not fit this frame? Sorry, no pictures.

Look at part number 6 of the attached. Any LBS should have them laying around.
